Shared Studios Climate Fellowship Opportunities

The Shared Studios Climate Fellowship is a unique opportunity for early-career professionals to engage in three-month, project-based learning and working experience. Fellows will be able to showcase their communities and build intercultural competency. Working in partnership with internationally-known organizations, Fellows will gain professional skills in team collaboration, community building, program ideation, and design, leadership, and conversation moderation.

Fellows will build a global community of climate changemakers – creative, inspiring, forward-thinking people, initiatives, and organizations in their region working on climate and the environment. This community will form the foundation of guest speakers and contributors for transformative conversations and collaborations centered on building a better and more diverse understanding of challenges and solutions to climate change. 

Over three months, each Fellow will: 

  • Research and identify creative, forward-thinking, trailblazing people, initiatives, and organizations (“contributors”) in their region related to climate.
  • Conduct outreach, recruit, and assess potential contributors.
  • Research, synthesize and ideate unique conversation topics to create outstanding and transformative conversations centered around building a more sustainable world.
  • Be the local face of Shared_Studios. Manage and nurture relationships including welcoming and onboarding new contributors.
  • Coordinate with contributors for Shared_Studios events.
  • Coach contributors to tell their stories and ideas effectively and in a compelling manner.

Employment type: Part-time, 15 to 20 hours per week, 3-month contract with potential for further opportunities

Location: Remote from anywhere (Latin America, Middle East, South Asia, and Africa highly desired)

Compensation: Competitive based on location and experience

The Shared_Studios Global Topics Fellowship Program identifies and empowers emerging leaders from around the world who are at the forefront of a variety of pressing global issues.

The Climate Fellowship

Shared_Studios is continuing to develop new and transformative conversations centered around global issues, and we are currently looking for Fellows to launch our climate conversations program.  

In developing and executing these conversations, Fellows will bring together global leaders and on the ground practitioners to be featured as guests for transformative conversations that explore key facets of the climate crisis – from water scarcity and energy to pollution, natural disasters, and climate migration – to urgent solutions at local, national, and international levels. 

The primary role of the Climate Fellow is to identify, recruit, and coordinate this diverse group of guest contributors who will join these conversations to inspire, teach and engage global audiences to build consensus and come to practical solutions to address pressing issues related to climate.

Fellows will be a part of Shared_Studios’ work in fostering a global community and launching new types of conversations that challenge participants to see and engage with the world differently.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop new conversation topics and series based on your knowledge and research of climate and your community(ies) to create outstanding and transformative conversations centered around climate and the environment.
  • Find and interview new guest contributors who will inspire audiences and contribute to transformative conversations on climate and the environment.
  • Be the local face of Shared_Studios and the primary point of contact for guest contributors within your community. 
  • Manage and nurture relationships with guest contributors including welcoming, interviewing, and helping them share their stories effectively and in a compelling manner.
  • Proactively research and identify interesting and noteworthy things happening in your community. 
  • Coordinate virtual events and guest contributors.

Requirements

  • You have a clear understanding of and interest in the climate and environment and are able to ideate diverse conversation programs around this topic. 
  • You are emotionally intelligent with a warm and friendly personality. 
  • You have no trouble meeting and connecting with new people from all walks of life. You probably already have an extensive network and “know the perfect person” for any situation, problem or opportunity. 
  • You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong proficiency in written and spoken English. Additional languages and cross-cultural experience are highly desirable.
  • You are self-motivated, reliable, and a proactive problem solver.
  • You have 2 years minimum experience in roles related to community building, community engagement, and/or community organizing. Additional professional and leadership experience are highly desirable.
  • Experience in roles (professional, academic, or volunteer accepted) related to climate and the environment are highly desirable.

The Shared_Studios team works remotely from around the world and gathers in person several times per year. You may be based anywhere in the world and will require access to a strong and consistent internet connection.
